What is editing?

August 23, 2018

After your session, I go home and work on your images! I usually have a turn around time of 1 week or less to completion of your gallery. But maybe, you've wondered what I'm doing with your images?

First, I go through all the images and pick which ones are "keepers". I look for focus and composition, interaction, facial expressions, and connection to determine what to keep to give a diverse gallery.

Second, I edit for lighting, warmth, and contrast in Lightroom, an editing program.

Third, I export them into Photoshop, another editing program, where I will enhance the lighting once more a bit, then work on fly away hairs, skin retouching, background removal if needed, etc.

Then I'm done and continue on to the next photo. Usually, each session takes me about 1- 2 hours in editing.

Here are a few examples of before and afters!
