Posed vs Lifestyle Newborn Sessions - What is the Difference?
This is the question I get asked most often and it is a great one! Here is the simple breakdown:
Posed Newborn Session:
This is the classic newborn photography style - baby is gently and safely posed in wraps, baskets, and on beautiful textured surfaces. These type of photos require patience and for the baby to be asleep - so we will wait until we get baby to sleep to get these posed photos. I always include family photos in this session too so you get both styled newborn images AND those precious snuggle shots with mom and dad and siblings!
Lifestyle Newborn Session:
Lifestyle sessions are more relaxed and documentary in style. Baby is not placed in props or posed setups - instead we capture natural moments (but baby is still swaddled, if you want!). Baby on the bed with mom, dad holding baby by the window, siblings snuggling baby. These images feel real and authentic because they are! Lifestyle sessions can be done in my studio or in your home.
Which should you choose?
Choose posed if you love those classic curled up newborn images and want a variety of setups and props
Choose lifestyle if you want something more natural and documentary
Choose mini if you're on a budget and want to capture the time and the moments without a long, more expensive session.

What to Expect at Your Newborn Session in Frisco TX
New parents always ask me what the session is actually like. Here is the honest answer: slow, calm, and completely baby-led. There is no rushing here!
Plan for about 1-2 hours for a full posed session. Sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more depending on baby. Plan for about 1 hour for lifestyle. Mini is pretty close to 30 minutes.
