How to Download Your Christie Gare Photography Gallery - A Step by Step Guide

YAY! Your gallery is ready and I just sent you the link! I know the feeling -- you want to dive in immediately, download everything, and start texting your favorites to grandma. Here is exactly how to do all of that the right way so you get the best quality from your images!

How to Download ALL Your Photos at Once on a Computer
This is the easiest way to save everything at once and I recommend doing this first on a computer or laptop if you can!
Open your gallery link
Look for the download button in the top right corner of the gallery
Click Download All
Choose either Save to Google Photos or My Device
Your photos will download as a ZIP file — once it downloads just unzip the folder and all your images will be inside!
A few important notes:
If the gallery is large it may take a few minutes to prepare — be patient!
ShootProof will also email you a download link as a backup — the link is good for 7 days so grab it right away
How to Download ALL Your Photos at Once to GOOGLE PHOTOS
This is my favorite option for clients who want everything backed up automatically! When you click Download All you will see an option to Save to Google Photos. Click it, log into your Google account, and your entire gallery saves directly to Google Photos at full resolution. No ZIP files, no unzipping — just all your photos organized and ready to access from any device. If you use Google Photos already this is the way to go!

Open your gallery link on your phone
Tap on the photo you want to download
Look for the download icon at the bottom of the image and tap it
The photo will download directly to your phone's camera roll
Repeat for as many photos as you want!
This is great for sharing favorites on social media right away while you work on downloading the full gallery on a computer! iPhone users — fair warning! The full gallery zip file downloads to your Files app, not your Camera Roll. It is an extra step but totally worth it to get everything at full quality! Otherwise, just download your favs individually to the phone!
Please Please PLEASE Do Not Screenshot Your Photos!
I have to say this because it makes me cringe every time! Screenshots drop your photo quality to almost zero. A beautiful high resolution image that should print at 16x20 becomes a blurry pixelated mess the moment you screenshot it. All that editing work goes right out the window!
Use the download button instead -- it takes 10 extra seconds and the difference in quality is enormous. Your future self who wants to print a canvas will thank you!
How to Share Your Photos and Tag Christie Gare Photography
I do not watermark my images because I want the focus to be completely on you and your beautiful family -- not my logo! So when you share your photos please tag me so I get credit. It genuinely helps my small business more than you know and makes me all giddy inside when I see your photos out in the wild!
How to tag me:
Instagram: tag @christiegarephotography in your post or add it to your caption
Facebook: tag Christie Gare Photography in your post
Website: mention christiegare.com in your caption if tagging does not work
Ordering Prints from Your Christie Gare Photography Gallery
Your digital images are yours to print wherever you like! However if you want to order prints I always recommend printing through your gallery link rather than a drugstore or big box store. Here is why: professional lab prints are a completely different level of quality. The colors are truer, the paper is archival quality, and the prints will last for decades rather than fading in a few years.
To order prints through your gallery, just open your gallery link and click on any photo to open the print ordering menu. You can also print through Shutterfly or any other professional print lab using your downloaded files -- I just recommend staying away from drugstore printing for anything you plan to frame!
One important tip for printing:
Different print sizes crop your image differently. An 8x10 crops quite a bit off a standard image. Most print ordering systems let you preview and adjust the crop before you order -- always check the preview before you confirm! If you are unsure about how to crop a specific image just email me with the image number and I am happy to help.
Back Up Your Photos -- Please!
This is so important and I say it to every single client: please back up your photos in more than one place! I keep your gallery active for a period of time but eventually galleries are archived. Once they are archived the download link will no longer work.
My recommended backup system:
Google Photos: free and unlimited storage, accessible from any device
iCloud: great if you are in the Apple ecosystem
External hard drive: a physical backup stored somewhere safe is always a great idea
Dropbox: another great cloud storage option
Two copies in two different places is the golden rule. These are memories you can never recreate -- treat them like the treasure they are!
